Terms of Service

By installing, accessing, or using Violingo, you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

• You must be at least 13 years old
• If under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent
• You must have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
• You must not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable law

• Provide a valid email address and secure password
• Maintain the security and confidentiality of your credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• You are responsible for all activity under your account

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

• Install and use Violingo on devices you own or control
• Use the Service for personal, non-commercial language learning
• Access your learning data through your account

You agree NOT to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from the extension
• Modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the Service
• Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Circumvent access restrictions, rate limits, or security features
• Use bots, scrapers, or automated scripts to access the Service
• Resell, rent, or sublicense access to the Service
• Share account credentials or create multiple accounts to bypass limits
• Use the Service to violate Netflix's or YouTube's Terms of Service
• Extract or redistribute subtitle content for commercial purposes
• Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content

Violingo is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Netflix or Google/YouTube.

• You must maintain valid subscriptions to Netflix and/or YouTube to use those features
• You are solely responsible for complying with their Terms of Service
• We do not host, store, or provide access to video content
• Feature availability may depend on third-party platform changes

• Subtitle text is for personal educational use only
• You may not redistribute, publish, or commercially exploit subtitle content
• You must respect copyright and intellectual property of content providers
• You agree not to circumvent any copy protection or DRM measures

• Supabase — authentication and database
• Stripe — payment processing (subject to Stripe's terms)
• OpenAI — optional AI-powered features (if enabled)

Each provider operates under their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party availability or practices.

• Supporter — $10: Lifetime access + campaign updates
• 3 Year Member — $97: 1 year premium, early access, founder badge
• Lifetime Member — $277: Lifetime premium, early access, founder badge
• Founding Member — $539: Lifetime premium, private community, feature voting

Prices in USD. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' advance notice.

• Subscriptions auto-renew on your billing date unless cancelled
• You authorize recurring charges to your payment method
• Failed payments may result in service suspension
• Unused credits do NOT roll over to the next billing period

• Cancel anytime through account settings
• Cancellation takes effect at end of current billing period
• No refunds for partial billing periods
• Unused credits are forfeited on cancellation

• Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of the charge
• Refunds are granted at our sole discretion
• Abuse of the refund policy may result in account termination
• Contact support@violingo.ai to request a refund

The Service, extension, website, and all related content are owned by Violingo and protected by copyright, trademark, patent, and trade secret laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

You retain ownership of your vocabulary lists, notes, and study progress. You grant us a non-exclusive license to store and process your content solely to provide the Service.

• We may use your feedback without compensation or attribution
• You grant us a perpetual, irrevocable license to implement your suggestions

• No warranty of merchantability, fitness for purpose, or non-infringement
• No guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• No warranty regarding accuracy or completeness of content

• We are NOT liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the last 12 months (min $100)
• We are not responsible for loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
• We are not liable for damages caused by third-party services

• We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted access
• Compatibility with all devices or browsers is not guaranteed
• We may modify or discontinue any part of the Service with notice

• Cancel your subscription through account settings
• Email support@violingo.ai to request account deletion
• Uninstall the extension

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if:

• You violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent activity
• Payment fails repeatedly
• We suspect unauthorized account access
• Required by law or regulatory authority

• Your right to use the Service immediately ceases
• We may delete your data per our retention policy
• No refunds for remaining subscription time
• You may request data export within 30 days

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Before filing any legal claim, contact us at legal@violingo.ai to attempt informal resolution. We will work in good faith.

Unresolved disputes will be settled by binding arbitration via the American Arbitration Association (AAA), except for small claims court, IP disputes, or injunctive relief.

YOU WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASS ACTIONS OR CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION. DISPUTES RESOLVED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS ONLY.

These Terms together with our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Violingo.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce any right does not constitute a waiver.

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account. We may assign our rights without restriction.

We are not liable for delays or failures due to events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, or government actions.
